The Belmont Neighborhood

Mas restaurant has a great blurb about the neighborhood:

once a sleepy farm known as belmont, this area east and south of downtown charlottesville is in the midst of a renaissance of redevelopment. following the creation of mas in 2002-2003, this working-class neighborhood has blossomed with coffee shops, galleries, a hostel and new found popularity for those who enjoy wandering from the beaten path. the new found vitality of belmont is also due to the inspired work of community activists and neighbors working to develop a sound and sustainable urban neighborhood.

The University of Virginia

This house has the best of both worlds: Downtown (and peaceful!) Charlottesville city, but easy access to UVA There is free trolly that stops just a few blocks away that will drop you off at the Rotunda or its just a short drive down the road to the Corner.

Lots of Storage

There is a lot of storage here! The small basement/cellar combined with a large attic provide ample storage space for all your junk or seasonal boxes - and free up floor space. The attic is high enough to stand in, runs the width of the home and has a window overlooking the yard - it could eventually be turned in to a loft, play area or bonus room.

Crush Wine Shop

Crush is the newest edition to Belmont, opening only a few months ago and selling "wines from around the world, imported beers, gourmet food, fresh bread, and wine accouterments". They have wine tastings every Friday evening which draw quite a crowd and are a fun pre-dinner activity before heading next door to The Local or across the street to Mas or La Taza.

La Taza

A great coffee shop and restuarant almost across the street. They built a little Tiki bar on their patio last year and during the summer have neighborhood cook outs. Their website.

Mas is an awesome spanish tapas restuarant just down the street. They have an amazing outside patio that fronts downtown Belmont. A glass of sangria outside afterwork is the best way to spend a evening. See their website.
